He was the son of the late Johnny Cleo and Viola Walker Grissom. He also was preceded in death by his grandchildren: Jacob and Talon Grissom. He was a long timber cutter.He is survived by his sons: James Keith Grissom, James Douglas Grissom and Tracy Eugene Grissom; daughters: Janice Cook and Angela Golden; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his sisters: Judy Gentry and Barbara Bishop. A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, Wildwood Avenue Chapel, with family and friends sharing their memories of James. The interment will follow at the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Meigs County. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the funeral home. She was the daughter of the late George and Hattie Young Presnell, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Ballew; her sister, Gertrude “Trudy” Presnell; and her great-granddaughter, Brittanie Millsaps.At the time of her death, she was the oldest, by age, member of Charleston First Baptist Church. She had been a member since 1955, where she at one time worked in the nursery. She was retired from Parks Belk with over 30 years of service as the lay away and credit manager. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee St. Chapel. Bobbie," as she was affectionately known, was the daughter of the late Edna Louise Swafford Green and George Albert Green. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Franklin Miller Sr.; her second husband, Joe W. Owensby; her daughter, Janice Miller; her sons: Jimmy Ray Miller and Johnny Franklin Miller Jr.; her sisters: Wilma McCord, Janie Espy and Rachel Marler; and her brother, Calvin Green,. "Bobbie" was retired from Charleston Hosiery Mill with 33 years of service. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, but most of all, she loved being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and was considered a very special lady! "Bobbie" was a member of the Price Memorial AME Zion Church and she loved her church family.Survivors include her sons: Eddie Miller and his companion, Donna Richesin, Michael Miller and his partner, Jeffrey Davis, and Robert Miller, all of Cleveland; her special granddaughter, Hali Miller; special grandson, John Paul Miller; her sister, Martha Hall; her brother, Arlie Green, all of Cleveland; her special niece, Sandra Mares; several other grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted Friday, April 5, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Chapel, with Pastor Thersa Oglesby officiating.Interment will follow in the McInturf Cemetery with Troy Brookshire, Chris Carden, Charlie Williams, Tracy Sewell, Dustin Cox and Hunter Thompson serving as casket bearers.
